Firstly, I’m one for routine and can get a little uncomfortable if my routine is altered or changed BUT I’m learning that I need to stay relevant which requires some changes.

I think we can read books, watch motivational videos and clips to keep on top of what is evolving in our work domains, but I think there is nothing better for relevance than asking:

  • Your customers
  • Your staff
  • Your peers
  • Your suppliers

As a business we’ve been super fortunate to use a very special AI and Machine Learning platform to identify and source top talent BUT it required me to learn, change and become more relevant.

I encourage my team to share ideas, share their views, critique me to ensure we are staying up to date, we are aware of potential verticals we should be looking at, but more importantly that we are staying relevant.

For me based on some personal reflection and feedback I’m embarking on a few tweaks and changes including:

  • Widening my network / attending and speaking at more events (I'm a touch of an introvert so at times I'm pretty content with my own company)
  • Being a willing ‘Change Champion’ versus simply turning up to meetings and training sessions
  • Provide more data insights to our customers and candidates

A lot of the times the most painful feedback is the feedback you need!

How relevant are you staying?
